Random Plaid Tape Mani

8154

 • Base coat: Slapper (butter by London)
 • 2nd layer: Don’t Talk Bach to Me (OPI)
 • Top layer: Meet Me at Sunset (essie)
 • Top coat: Seche Vite

This manicure was very simple to do and I purposely used a sheer red color on top so the layers underneath would show. This added to the plaid effect and gave the mani some dimension.

Mish Mash

Today’s post is a mish mash of items. I’ve got a review, two manicures, and some glitter.

First up is this simple manicure I did using In the Cab-ana by essie. This is easily one of my favorite polishes and I use it all the time, especially when it’s such an awesome summer color. Today I simply applied two coats of polish and let them dry. Afterwards I applied some Seche Vite topcoat to the tips of my nails and sprinkled glitter on top. I let this dry and then used Seche Vite on the entire nail to help seal in the glitter. What resulted was an awesome, easy-to-do manicure!

Kerfuffle by butter by London + Cart Jacked by Mentality

Posted on

This post is going to be short and sweet but full of eye candy. The base color is a beautiful, soft, peachy-pink color called Kerfuffle from butter by London and the accent nail has two coats of Cart Jacked by Mentality Polish (etsy shop here here). Cart Jacked is chock full of small bits of glitter in golds, reds, pinks, and purples with the occasional larger hexagonal piece in the same colors. It looks beautiful on its own but shines best when you apply it on top of another color.

Please try to ignore how haggard my fingernails and cuticles are. I have been doing a lot of housework and it has totally ruined my nails. I’ve broken almost every single one at some point in the last week, probably from handling cleaning supplies without gloves and such. My fingers are dried up and my cuticles are on a whole ‘nother level when it comes to awfulness right now. With that being said… On to the photos!

Addicted.

It’s official: I’m addicted to indie and franken polish. I’ve been “frankening” all week and come up with five particular bottles I enjoy quite a lot. I’ve also ordered some suspension liquid, empty bottles, and other items to start making legitimate nail polish. Ultimately I would like to sell it but we’ll see how that goes.

In the mean time I’ll continue doing what I do: buying absurd amounts of polish and writing about it all here. This past week I’ve purchased:

 • Violette Coquette by Lancome (first Lancome polish)
 • Rose Boudoir by Lancome
 • Sunbaker by butter by London
 • Secret Peri-winkle by China Glaze
 • Sweet Hook by China Glaze
 • Scattered & Tattered by China Glaze
 • Lightning Bolt by China Glaze
 • Van Gogh’s Violet by Finger Paints
 • Paper Mache by Finger Paints
 • Set in Stones by Essie
 • Haley Good Lookin’ by Nicole by OPI
 • Confetti Fun by Nicole by OPI
 • Beige-a-vu by Nina Ultra Pro
 • Sparkling by Revlon
 • Seche Vite topcoat

Like I said though, I’ve been so wrapped up with mixing polishes that I’ve barely tried any of this new stuff out except for Rose Boudoir by Lancome and Set in Stones by Essie (which is AH-MAZ-ING, by the way!). Here are a few bottles I’ve come up with:

butter London

Quite honestly I’m not sure if I should say “butter by London” or “butter London” when it comes to writing about this brand. I’ve seen it both ways on other blogs. The bottles don’t include the “by” but it sounds better to me so I’m going to keep writing it that way.

Anyway, today I went back to the MCX to take advantage of the great prices for this polish. I got three more bottles: Toff, Queen Vic, and Shandy. The $11.00 price tag was a callin’ my name and I couldn’t resist. I now have six bottles of this polish so my collection is growing. Right now I have more Essie, China Glaze, Revlon, and OPI than any other polishes but that might just change given how much I’ve enjoyed butter by London.

I got home and decided to try Queen Vic out first.

Score!

So I was at the MCX (Marine Corps Exchange store on base that is basically like a Target that also sells designer stuff) today and found a whole stand full of butter by London polish for just $11 a bottle! I wish I hadn’t spent nearly $30 on the two bottles I ordered online last night. I thought I was being thrifty too because I had found websites selling them for up to $15 or even more but apparently I was missing out.

Of course I picked up two bottles while I was there. I got Jasper and Bossy Boots. I also picked up a polish by Sally Hansen called Fuzz-sea. Fuzz-sea is part of their newer line of “fuzzy” polishes and I hadn’t seen them ever before (which is why I’m assuming it’s at least new-ish). They were really awesome looking so I picked up the bottle that was a mix of yellows, greens, and blues; very summery!

Obviously I’m a huge fan of butter by London so this “review” will be short but very sweet. Here are the two colors on a nail wheel:

Motivation

I certainly have some motivation to get back into the swing of things after ordering quite a few things from Julep and Amazon. Between now and the 24th I will be getting:

 • Butter by London’s Artful Dodger
 • Butter by London’s Yummy Mummy
 • Color Club’s Naturale
 • Color Club’s Take Me to Your Chateau
 • Julep’s Maven club membership (check it out here)

I can’t wait to see what I get from Julep and I’m really excited about trying these Color Club polishes. I was counting how many different brands of polish I have last night and it ended up being a whopping 37! I never realized how many brands are out there until I started getting into polish. I have used Butter by London before (amazing!) but never Color Club or Julep so I am especially excited for these two.

Lots of updates to come!

Review Post #014

Alright, I have quite a few reviews backlogged from the week I was visiting family. As you can see my mother donated plenty of polish to add to my obsession. I got to try Butter by London for the first time and it is as wonderful as I had been hearing. I also got to try quite a few other brands (I’ll post more about them later).

Rather than talk a lot like I normally do I’ll try my best to get right down to business!
