My Shop is Open!

I just added my first listing! I have finished up about 30 bottles of polish that will all be on sale shortly. So far I have added three bottles of Sun Burst. During the first few weeks everything will be sold at VERY low prices so I can hopefully create some kind of customer base. Each 15ml bottle will be sold for just $4 (most indie polishes go for at least twice that per 15ml).

I still have to tweak the shop a little (create a banner, fill out a profile, etc.) but I just wanted to get at least one item up for now. Please check it out!

August Haul: Part 2

Today I got the first two orders I placed online a few days ago. First of all, I commend both of these etsy sellers for shipping out my products within one day of receiving the orders! Secondly, I have ordered from youmix before but not pipedreampolish. I can say I will be ordering from them again! I haven’t done a formal review quite yet but I did try their polish out and loved it! I highly recommend both stores if you’re into indie polish or mixing your own polishes.

I’ll put a formal review up soon 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Self Nudes!

Okay, okay… It’s not what the title suggests exactly. I am always curious to see what a nail blogger’s nails look like sans polish so I decided to snap a photo of mine between manicures. They actually don’t look all that bad without polish but the tips have yellowed some over time. Ah well, it’s not like they ever show anyway!

Swatchin’ It Up

First swatches show the matte polish by Revlon. It’s on top of Revlon’s Top Speed color called Essence. I LOVE matte topcoats! They can totally change the look of any polish with the swipe of a brush. It’s almost like having two totally different polishes in one bottle.

Second polish is my very own. It doesn’t have a name yet but it’s a slightly textured glitter polish. It can be toned down with a top coat or shown in all its textured glory.

Would you use either of these?

August Haul

Lots of new polish to talk about! I ordered about 10 bottles of indie polishes and purchased even more at Sally’s yesterday.

I also got some other nail products at Sally’s. I’m a huge fan of these makeup q-tips because you can dip them into acetone and really get into the nooks and crannies while removing polish. The fine tips make it easier to remove only what you want gone whereas normal q-tips often remove too much.

Here’s a mini swatch of the Finger Paints polishes I got:

I will begin swatching them soon!

Random Plaid Tape Mani

  • Base coat: Slapper (butter by London)
  • 2nd layer: Don’t Talk Bach to Me (OPI)
  • Top layer: Meet Me at Sunset (essie)
  • Top coat: Seche Vite

This manicure was very simple to do and I purposely used a sheer red color on top so the layers underneath would show. This added to the plaid effect and gave the mani some dimension.

Almost Ready!

So I think I’m going to use to upload any new photos for now. I will still upgrade to premium on Photobucket so I won’t lose all of my old photos on here but I am feeling very reluctant about it.

Anyway, I have some great news! I am almost ready to open my etsy shop finally. I am having so much fun making nail polish and would like to share it with everyone. I’m not doing it for money and quite frankly I don’t expect to sell much (if anything, haha) but it’s still fun either way.

I have started photographing the polishes I’ve made and will be adding them to etsy in the near future. Here’s a sneak preview:

This first polish is a soft beige color with large hexagonal glitter in yellow and white. Smaller hexagonal and square shaped glitter appears in gray and white.

And the second polish is a soft pink with all kinds of glitter! There’s pretty much every kind of glitter possible in there but it’s all in soft pastel colors.

This last one is random but I love it! It has a clear base but it’s chock full of rose colored flecks as well as small hexagonal pieces in gold, silver, and pink. It’s extremely versatile as it looks good with just about any color polish.

So what do you think? Any critiques?

Photobucket, I’m Going to Kill You

Apparently Photobucket lied to me when they told me I could have unlimited space. A few years ago they sent me an e-mail saying something like, “Dear Laura, because you have been using our service since 2003 we are giving you as much space as you want for free.”

None of my photos are showing up right now. I’m going to try and get it resolved but if I have to upgrade I will (and not because I want to stick with Photobucket). I am not about to go back and upload every single photo from this blog on another server. That would take days upon days to do. Instead I’ll just pay whatever stupid fee they’re asking and shoot them an angry e-mail.

This is really a bummer. I’m not going to commit to it just yet so it will be a few days before my old photos will show again.

Organizing Day

Well, I’ve long since reached the point where I lost count of how many bottles of polish I have, especially since I started making my own. All I know is I was reaching a point where I was just throwing them in a pile without any kind of organization whatsoever. Besides, I like to reorganize things every couple of months. My 23 month old decided to join in the fun yet again. I had to wait until he went to bed to finish, actually. He likes playing with nail polish bottles a little too much.

Glitter Filler

This is just a miscellaneous post of some polish I made. I used it on top of a base coat of Tough by Mentality. It’s actually two glitter polishes: one is comprised of circular gold flecks and mini gold particles and the other is made with rose colored flecks. Both look great alone but they look even better together. Quite frankly this is far from my favorite glitter combination but it doesn’t look bad either. It was just a fun way to kill time!
